Austin's Fox 7 reviews popularity of abortion measure

By W. Gardner Selby July 9, 2013

Jerry Patterson said a majority of Texans support the abortion  measure before Texas lawmakers.

We looked into available polling, learning that 62 percent of Texas respondents in one poll agreed abortion should be barred after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which gave Patterson's claim an element of truth.

However, other elements of the measure--including stepped-up medical standards for abortion clinics--had not been fairly polled at the time Patterson spoke. We rated Patterson's statement Mostly False.

On July 5, Fox 7 News in Austin followed up with the interview segment posted to the right, just below the full Truth-O-Meter article on this claim.

We're hoping to appear regularly on the station's 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. news.
