A Leander reader forwarded an email, wondering too why she had not seen any coverage of the email's described May 12, 2012, vote on a proposed constitutional amendment affecting the elderly and people with disabilities.
Quick answer: The chain email is incorrect, based on a vote that happened nearly five years ago. We rated it Pants on Fire in the Truth-O-Meter article to the right.
Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade earlier posted a warning about the email on her office's website.
"The fact is there is no constitutional amendment on the May 12 ballot," Andrade said in her April 11, 2012 notice.
Agency spokesman Rich Parsons told us that officials do not know who is circulating the bogus email.

"It's possibly somebody who is just mistaken," Parsons said. "We don't know the motives."
