Perry quotes Obama saying Medicaid ‘broken’

By W. Gardner Selby
April 10, 2013

In a recent speech, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said: “If you don’t believe me that Medicaid is broken, just ask our president. Four years ago, he said, and I quote, ‘We can’t simply put more people into a broken system that doesn’t work,’ end quote.”

We confirmed as much, though President Barack Obama also was speaking in a larger context about the country’s entire health care system. Get the lowdown behind our Mostly True rating of Perry’s claim in the Truth-O-Meter article posted to the right.
