With a runoff between David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in Texas set for July 31, we’re primed for a couple of additional months of checking their respective claims.
In the meantime, you can warm up at your end by perusing the PolitiFact report cards for Dewhurst and Cruz, here and here.
But they won’t be the only candidates we’re watching as the runoffs approach. On the Democratic side of the Senate race, former state Rep. Paul Sadler will face off against Grady Yarbrough, described by The Associated Press as a perennial candidate who has previously run as a Democrat and a Republican.
Check out Sadler’s PolitiFact report card here. We haven’t fact-checked any claims from Yarbrough — yet.
Also, state Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, and challenger Donna Campbell, a New Braunfels physician, will be in a runoff for the Republican nomination in District 25, which runs from San Antonio to Austin.
See previous fact-checks of Wentworth statements here and of Campbell here.
We'll keep this in mind, too. Other runoffs are taking place across the state, meaning more work for the Texas Truth-O-Meter. Spot a claim you think we should fact-check? Write us at [email protected].
