With U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner announcing his retirement on Wednesday, we decided to look back on how the Wisconsin Republican fared on the PolitiFact Truth-O-Meter over the years.
Sensenbrenner was the second-longest serving member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the heavily Republican 5th District of Wisconsin since 1978.
Since the birth of PolitiFact in 2007, we’ve fact-checked Sensenbrenner five times. Those fact-checks yielded one rating of True, one Half True, one Mostly False and two False. Here’s a sampling:

July 7, 2013 - Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner says it takes 25 years to obtain citizenship legally and just 13 years for illegal immigrants under Senate bill. (Half True)
