  • The war in Ukraine isn’t over. Ukraine’s foreign minister said Dec. 13 that Russian forces could be capable of launching a "large offensive" by the end of January. 
 

A Facebook post falsely claimed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is over, ignoring the ongoing deadly conflict. 

"It's All Over: Ukrainian Army Carried Out the Last Operation That Finished Off the Invading Russians," the Dec. 12 post said. 

It was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook.)

The war in Ukraine is not all over.

"That’s what they’re trying to do," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said. "And we, of course, do everything possible to prevent it from happening."

Russian drone strikes recently cut power for residents in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, and Ukrainians attacked the Russian-occupied city of Melitopol. 

CNN reported that the Biden administration is finalizing plans to send a missile defense system to Ukraine. Ukraine has requested such a system to intercept Russian missile and drone attacks.
