Did Joe Biden profanely mention pacemakers in speech? No; this video was altered
A video circulating social media shows President Joe Biden giving a speech against a curtain partly reading, "Protect and Strengthen Medicare." And the voice in the video sounds like Biden — but it’s not.
This video was altered so that he appears to say, among other things: "This s--- will turn your pacemaker off."
A Feb. 16 Instagram post sharing the video was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
The video in the post comes from a Feb. 9 speech Biden gave in Tampa, Florida, about protecting Social Security and Medicare.
