Actor Isaac Kappy died years ago, but QAnon claims that he was murdered persist

If Your Time is short

  • This claim is unfounded. Authorities say that actor Isaac Kappy died by suicide.

"New terrifying evidence confirms Isaac Kappy’s death was planned," reads the description of a video drawing attention on Facebook.

But the video doesn’t deliver on that premise, and instead recycles old, unfounded claims that the late actor was killed by another actor, Tom Hanks, to silence him.

"Tom Hanks has basically been the face of the actor’s murder," a digitized narrator says in the video.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety told reporters in 2019 that Kappy died that year after jumping off a bridge in the state. An Instagram post published on Kappy’s account before he died said, "Beware the man that has nothing to lose, for he has nothing to protect," a reference to a QAnon conspiracy theory. The post also accused several celebrities of pedophilia, NBC News reported.

Kappy had previously alleged without evidence on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ radio show that Hanks, among other Hollywood stars, was a pedophile. This claim made Kappy "a minor celebrity in Q-adjacent communities," Slate said.

There’s no evidence to support the claim that Hanks, or anyone, murdered Kappy. We rate this post Pants on Fire!
