Fox News covered former President Donald Trump’s conviction

If Your Time is short

  • Fox News reported on former President Donald Trump’s conviction on air, online and on social media.

Fox News didn’t fail to report on the historic conviction of former President Donald Trump on multiple felony charges May 30, but an image on social media led some users to believe otherwise.

A May 30 Threads post listed CNN, NBC and ABC as saying "Trump guilty," and then implying that Fox News reported on the restaurant Taco Bell instead.

"Taco Bell items rumored to be removed from menu," read an image of what looks like a Fox News broadcast.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

Screenshots of the post, which user Zack Bornstein published May 30, spread to other platforms, including Instagram, Reddit and Facebook. Other posts, such as one on X, similarly suggested Fox didn’t report on the guilty verdict.

But that image has been online since 2020, when Fox News reported on "rumors of the Quesarito’s demise."
