Joe Rogan didn't say he’s not voting for Trump (he endorsed him on Nov. 4)

If Your Time is short

  • Joe Rogan, the influential podcaster who recently interviewed Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump, hadn’t announced who he’s voting for in the 2024 election as of early afternoon Nov. 3.

  • Rogan said he voted for the Libertarian Party candidate in the 2020 presidential election.

Update 9:50 p.m. EST Nov. 4, 2024: Shortly before 9 p.m. EST, Rogan posted on X that he was endorsing Trump. We've updated the headline of this story. The story itself remains changed.

Influential podcaster Joe Rogan recently hosted former President Donald Trump for a nearly three-hour interview that touched on everything from whether there is life on Mars (Trump says it’s possible), to Trump’s consistent windmill hatred (a "bird cemetery") and Trump’s greatest mistake in the White House (hiring disloyal people, Trump said).

What didn’t come up: who Rogan was voting for.

But that didn’t stop a social media user from saying Rogan announced that he wouldn’t be supporting Trump.

"Joe Rogan says he will not be voting for Trump after having him on the podcast," said an Oct. 29 Threads post. It was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

We found no evidence Rogan made any such announcement as of early afternoon Nov. 3.

During the Oct. 26 Trump-Rogan interview, Trump asked Rogan to endorse his candidacy. But Rogan laughed off the suggestion.

"You cannot be voting for Kamala. Kamala. You’re not a Kamala person. I know you," Trump said.

Rogan has not publicly declared support for Trump. In 2020, Rogan supported Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., for president. After it became clear Sanders would lose the primary to Joe Biden, Rogan said he would rather vote for Trump than Biden in 2020.

In the end, though, Rogan said he voted for Libertarian Party candidate Jo Jorgensen.

"I voted Libertarian," Rogan said in 2020. "I voted Jo Jorgensen. I knew she didn't have a shot. Legalizing drugs. I knew California was going to Biden no matter what and I couldn't. I was looking at the whole thing like 'what is this?'"

In August, Rogan praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who then was still running for president as an independent, saying Kennedy was the only candidate who does not "gaslight" the public.

"For the record, this isn't an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFK Jr. as a person, and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence. I think we could use more of that in this world," Rogan clarified in an Aug. 9 X post.

Kennedy later dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump.

We rate claims that as of early afternoon Nov. 3, Rogan had announced that he won’t be voting for Trump in 2024 False.
