Fake image shows Donald Trump donating $1,300 check to hurricane relief

The image was not part of a Fox News report. It was not on Fox News’ website and a network spokesperson told PolitiFact in an email, "I can confirm this was not reported on FOX News."

The image was shared as parody and has telltale signs of being artificially generated.
Experts estimated that Hurricanes Helene and Milton could each cost the federal government $50 billion. Some social media posts claimed former President Donald Trump pledged to contribute a scant amount towards the damages.
"TRUMP DONATING $1300 FOR HURRICANE RELIEF," reads what looks like a Fox News chyron shared Oct. 14 on Instagram with a photo of Trump holding a check for that amount.

But the photo is not from a real Fox News report. It was not on Fox News’ website, and a network spokesperson told PolitiFact in an email, "I can confirm this was not reported on FOX News."

Fox News did report that a GoFundMe page launched by Trump’s campaign raised more than $1 million for Hurricane Helene. As of Oct. 17, the GoFundMe page has raised $7.7 million.
The earliest version of the image we found was posted Oct. 13 to Reddit with a parody headline. The photo has telltale signs of being artificially generated, including incoherent text on the check.
