Since Sean "Diddy" Combs’ Sept. 16 arrest after a grand jury indicted him on charges including sex trafficking, some social media users have tried to connect the music magnate to both major presidential candidates. 

But one Threads post mischaracterizes an image of Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. 

"Here is P Diddy with Kamala Harris," text above the image says. "P Diddy has been arrested for sex trafficking!"

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

The person in the image isn’t Combs but talk show host Montel Williams, whom Harris once dated.

The image is a still of 2001 footage that aired on "Inside Edition." It shows Harris, Williams and Williams' daughter, Ashley, on the carpet at the eighth annual Race to Erase Multiple Sclerosis gala in Los Angeles. 

We fact-checked another image from that same event that showed an altered photo replacing Williams with Combs. 

We rate claims the Threads post shows Harris with Combs False.
