Promises about Government Efficiency on Linc-O-Meter
Upgrade state website to put government services such as obtaining drivers licenses online
"I will upgrade RI.gov to ensure that citizens can take maximum advantage of the public services they pay tax dollars to fund. The upgrade will include putting online government services that currently require a trip to state offices, such as making DMV appointments and renewing drivers’ licenses. This initiative will make online services available for free."
Will make the state procurement process more transparent.
"Government procurement has become synonymous with fraud and inefficiency. I will eradicate this longstanding trend by introducing transparency to the procurement process. Like the federal BetterBuy Project, our administration will offer citizens a way to submit, comment on, and vote on ideas for making our state’s procurement process more effective."
Will create more open and competitive procurement process at the state and municipal levels
My administration will also update the prices in the state’s Master Pricing List and make it accessible to municipalities. This will create a more open and competitive procurement process, resulting in an economy of scale that will benefit taxpayers at both the municipal and state levels.
Complete renovation of Cranston Street Armory
"Complete the renovation of the historic, state-owned, 165,000-square-foot Cranston Street Armory, followed by the relocation there of three of the state agencies currently holding high-rent leases with private landlords."
Review all state leases of commercial office space
"Launch a thorough, case-by-case review of all 33 leases currently held by the state in commercial office buildings."
Develop master plan for use of state-owned property
"Development of a Master Property Utilization Plan that will clearly and transparently lay out a new vision for state-owned properties. This plan will conceive of the Pastore Complex in Cranston as a centrally located, mass-transit-accessible 'government services mall,' supported by three regional hubs in Blackstone Valley, Bristol County and South County."
Reform state employee pension plan
Reform pension plans: Reamortize pension; create hybrid 401(k), audit existing plan, develop long-term plan to coordinate retirement age with Social Security age.
