President Donald Trump announced April 2, 2026 that he had fired Attorney General Pam Bondi. In November 2024, Trump nominated Bondi to serve as attorney general after his original pick, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., withdrew from consideration. Bondi was elected Florida Attorney General on Nov. 2, 2010, and reelected Nov. 4, 2014 after serving as a Hillsborough Count prosecutor. She has also worked for Ballard Partners, a Washington D.C., lobbying company.
